Yorkton Co-operative Association Ltd. invites applications for the position of Accountant Trainee (Temporary) to join our Management Team. Please note that this is a 12 to 18 month term position.

Yorkton Co-operative Association Ltd. is a successful and growing retail located in east central Saskatchewan in the progressive city of Yorkton. Reporting to the Controller, this position will oversee departmental accounting, prepare timely financial statements, and work to ensure reporting procedures are completed with maximum efficiency and accuracy.

The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for preparing multi-departmental financial statements and variance analysis, complete gross margin calculations on a periodic basis for all departments, work with department managers in maintaining accurate receiving records and inventory controls, perform and/or oversee various regulatory filings and tax remittances, assist with the internal and external auditing functions, prepare and develop the annual departmental budgets,  assist with credit administration, and provide administrative support in a mid-sized office team ensuring period end processes and deadlines are adhered to.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a CGA/CMA accounting designation or will be working towards designation, and/or Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration Diploma with a major in accounting.  They will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the accounting field, be proficient with MS Office, demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and have proven mathematical and organizational skills. The successful candidate will have the ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail and will efficiently prioritize responsibilities within tight deadlines in a fast paced team-oriented environment. Knowledge of POS systems is considered an asset.
