The Grocery Manager is responsible for the operations of the Grocery department, including achieving business and financial results and overseeing day-to-day operation of the department.  These results are achieved by people, and the Manager is responsible for the direction, coaching and development of the Grocery team.  Providing exceptional customer service is key to the Co-op’s success and the manager leads in this regard.  The Grocery department is Peninsula Co-op’s largest with more than 40 team members, requiring a leader who is able to manage complex issues and a demanding work load with competence and consideration.  This position reports to the Food Centre Operations Manager. Our Food Centre is located at 2132 Keating X Road, Saanichton, a short distance north of Victoria, BC.

We are looking for someone with the following attributes:
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop a team of people,
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills,
• Experience planning, budgeting and working with operating statements,
• Knowledge of industry and business trends,
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple demands,
• A commitment to quality and an eye for detail,
• 3 or more years of retail management experience, preferably in a high-volume grocery department,
• Appropriate computer skills and technical knowledge,
• Availability to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings and weekends.
