The Co-operative Retailing System (CRS) is a unique, multi-billion dollar organization based on the fundamental principles of co-operation. It is comprised of a network of approximately 181 autonomous retail co-operatives across Western Canada along with their branch operations, and Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL). FCL is the wholesaling/manufacturing arm of the CRS, which provides the retail co-ops with a range of products and services. New Horizon Co-operative Limited invites applications for the position of Director of Human Resources.

New Horizon Co-op invites applications for the position of Director of Human Resources to join our team located in Grande Prairie, Alberta. New Horizon Co-operative has a sales volume of 153 Million. 

The Retail Director of Human Resources is a strategic partner, that supports and provides leadership, expertise, advice and human resource strategies to the General Manager, Senior Leadership and Team Leaders. Reporting to the General Manager, responsibilities for this position include the following:
1. Provide coaching and support to General Manager, Team Leaders and Team Members on all aspects of talent management practices and partnering with FCL Home Office and FCL Region Office for roll out.
2. Plan, direct and manage all human resource initiatives, such as recruitment, compensation, training, coaching, team building, leadership and employee relations.
3. Make sure that programs are consistently administered and aligned with Organizational goals, have compliance with professional standards and meet Alberta Labor Law requirements and laws.
4. Support retail with recruitment efforts.
5. Oversee business planning and budget development of HR programs.
6. Ensure employees adhere to policies and procedures.
7. Coach and assist with disciplinary process, formulating disciplinary communication, advice on disciplinary meetings and involvement in disciplinary meetings when required.
8. Participate in the execution of the annual retail succession planning process including career conversations and facilitating workshops.
9. Other duties as assigned


• The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree, preference for Human Resources.  Major in Human resources or business administration. 
• Interpersonal, managerial, organizational and computer skills.
