Human Resources Coordinator (Barrhead, Retail)

The Co-operative Retailing System (CRS) is a unique, multi-billion dollar organization based on the fundamental principles of co-operation. It is comprised of a network of approximately 170 autonomous retail co-operatives across Western Canada along with their branch operations, and Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL). FCL is the wholesaling/manufacturing arm of the CRS, which provides the retail co-ops with a range of products and services.

Pembina West Co-op invites applications for the position of Human Resources Coordinator to join our team in Barrhead, Alberta.

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager this role will take the lead in the efficient organization of all administrative HR functions for Pembina West Co-op. The HR Coordinator is responsible for supporting the HR Manager in the day-to-day functions of the HR Department (e.g. recruitment, compensation, etc.), processing payroll and administering benefits for all staff and processing payroll for the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities for this position include the following:

• Assist the Team Leaders with recruitment for all Team Member positions, including pre-screening, interviewing, typing offer letters and all exit interviews
• Delivering new employee on-boarding and orientation packages
• Promoting Health and Wellness initiatives
• Assisting the Human Resources Manager in identifying training needs for all co-op staff by department and position; and reporting on completed employee training.
• Processing bi-weekly payroll for all staff, and monthly payroll for the Board of Directors. This includes interpretation of timesheets (provincial and federal legislation) and manual keying into payroll system
• Owning the new TIS Payroll system upon rollout in fall of 2020
• Working with the Human Resources Manager to ensure that all salaries / wages are paid accurately
• Maintaining and track all vacation, attendance and sick leave hours
• Reconciling recurring payroll and benefit accounts and statements (general payroll and Receiver General remittances, pension remittances, garnishments, WCB remittances, Extended Health/Dental, MSP, Life and LTD Insurance)
• Processing hiring and termination related documentation
• Owning all WCB related inquiries, investigations, paperwork and follow up
• Assisting in the administration of employee benefits (Extended Health, Dental, LTD, etc.)

Qualifications
This position requires a self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment of growth and development, who is able to work a flexible schedule and has a minimum of 2 years’ experience providing payroll services as well as 1 to 2 years of Human Resources experience. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered. Previous recruitment experience with a sound knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards is considered an asset.
