The Co-operative Retailing System (CRS) is a unique, multi-billion dollar organization based on the fundamental principles of co-operation. The Wild Rose Co-operative Association Ltd. is an ever growing and expanding co-operative with annual sales in excess of $98 million dollars with food, petroleum, lumber/building materials and agriculture products. The position of Bakery-Deli Manager will be responsible for a department with approximately $1.7 million in sales.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Build a high-performance team that deliveries on budgeted targets by maximizing the operational efficiency of and returns from the operating assets and employees under their guidance.
Participate in the development and implementation of business plans that include growth targets and profitability, as well as develop and implement merchandising initiatives.
Communicate and consult with the Camrose Food Branch Manager about daily operations, budget plans, sales, targets, and other tasks.
Lead our bakery and deli teams in providing quality and fresh goods.
Ensures bakery and deli inventories are managed and protected in compliance with management standards and practices to ensure high levels of accuracy and minimal losses.
Provide superior leadership through coaching, development, management of performance, and feedback to approximately 13 team members within the Bakery and Deli departments, so that team members are developed and provide exceptional customer service and technical advice to our guests.
Drive for continuous improvement in all aspects of the team and operations.
Ensure that company policies, best practices, training courses, and certifications are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
Lead a culture of safety through coaching, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Represent Co-op and our “You’re at Home Here” brand at community and co-operative events.
All other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate would have five or more years of operational experience in a leadership role in a similar working environment, including customer service, and bake-off bakery and deli operations. Knowledge of commodity sales, gross margin and inventory management are required. Related experience in the Co-operative Retailing System, a journeyman trade certificate in the baking trade and previous retail food experience would be considered assets.
We are looking for an individual with strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as excellent organizational skills with the ability to set priorities while setting clear, attainable and measurable goals for direct reports, whileproviding solid coaching and feedback to ensure goals and targets are met.
