The Co-operative Retailing System (CRS) is a unique, multi-billion dollar organization based on the fundamental principles of co-operation. It is comprised of a network of approximately 250 autonomous retail co-operatives across Western Canada along with their branch operations, and Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL). FCL is the wholesaling/manufacturing arm of the CRS, which provides the retail co-ops with a range of products and services. Red River Cooperative Ltd. invites applications for the position of Project Development Manager.

About the Position:

Red River Co-op invites applications for the position of Project Development Manager at our Home Office at 10 Prairie Way in the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba.  

The Project Development Manager plays a lead role in planning, organizing and controlling construction projects in a cost-efficient and timely manner. This individual will negotiate and administer contracts, leases, and confidential agreements with internal and external business partners. They will develop and manage growth strategies for new facility construction, renovations, and maintenance of existing facilities. 

Some responsibilities include:

  • Ensure a healthy and safe work environment for our employees and members;
  • Consistently deliver legendary service to make all guests of our Co-op feel “at home here”;
  • Be a brand ambassador for the Co-op;
  • Direct and manage the design of developmental projects and construction, including feasibility preparation, maintenance of budgets and time schedules;
  • Assist and make recommendations regarding size, scope and format of all site development;
  • Aid in the location assessment and development of new priorities by analyzing and preparing documents and reports pertaining to potential new commodity development, area development with neighbouring retail Co-ops and contract/agency agreements;
  • Engage architects, engineers and general contractors as required;
  • Direct and manage contractors and architects within assigned projects, and ensure their operating style is consistent with Red River Co-op’s values and policies;
  • Prepare confidential capital budgets and pro forma; and
  • Oversee the maintenance for all existing Red River Co-op sites.

 

About You:

The successful candidate will live our brand, making our members and employees feel at home. You will possess above average communication / interpersonal skills. You will be firm, yet will have a friendly and sociable personality. You will build strong relationships with our internal and external stakeholders.  

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of project development or project management experience in the petroleum or retail industry. Post-secondary education in business or project development is a key asset. You will demonstrate a proven track record of success.
