The Co-operative Retailing System (CRS) is a unique, multi-billion dollar organization based on the fundamental principles of co-operation. It is comprised of a network of approximately 200 autonomous retail co-operatives across Western Canada along with their branch operations, and Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL). FCL is the wholesaling/manufacturing arm of the CRS, which provides the retail co-ops with a range of products and services. Haida Gwaii Co-operative Association invites applications for the position of Home Centre Manager located in Masset, BC.
West coast living on the “Edge of the World” - Where the western world ends, Haida Gwaii begins. Located 93 nautical miles off the B.C coast, the islands of Haida Gwaii are renowned for their unique Haida culture, offer small community living, and are globally recognized for their supernatural beauty and some of Canada’s best adventures.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Home Centre Manager is responsible for day to day operations of the home centre. The successful candidate will help lead the team and drive sales growth through a positive, productive, customer focused, team environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing exceptional customer service and frontline sales
  • Developing a strong workplace culture amongst team members
  • Leading the team member experience including hiring, training, and coaching for development
  • Business development and customer networking
  • Developing and achieving operating plans and budgets
  • Developing and executing pricing strategies to achieve optimum sales and margins
  • Executing efficient buying and inventory management
  • Designing and executing merchandising programs

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years’ as a people leader, preferably in a retail environment, with a demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop teams
  • Knowledge about the home and building industry and business trends
  • Experience in planning, budgeting and operating statements
  • Strong interpersonal and clear communication skills
  • Adaptable, organized, efficient and committed
  • Comfortable with computer systems and technical knowledge
