Office Manager (Rocky Mountain House, Retail)

The Co-operative Retailing System (CRS) is a unique, multi-billion dollar organization based on the fundamental principles of co-operation. It is comprised of a network of approximately 181 autonomous retail co-operatives across Western Canada along with their branch operations, and Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL). FCL is the wholesaling/manufacturing arm of the CRS, which provides the retail co-ops with a range of products and services. Evergreen Co-op in Rocky Mountain House invites applications for the position of Office Manager.

Evergreen Co-op is a dynamic co-operative with budgeted sales in excess of $97 million.  Based on the fundamental principles of a co-operative, we are locally invested, community-minded and offer lifetime membership benefits.

Reporting to the Controller, the Rocky Mountain House based Office Manager will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring all accounting procedures and financial reports are to standards
  • Supervision of a staff of four
  • Implementation of consistent accounting standards throughout organization
  • Assistance in preparation of monthly financial reports
  • Review of internal audits
  • Preparation of GL reconciliations
  • Assistance in completion of yearly budget, business plans and fie year projections
  • Support for Payroll in absence of Payroll Clerk
  • Other Accounting and Supervisory duties as required

Evergreen Co-op is an active participant in the CRS Corporate Performance and Management program as well as implementing Talent Management. 

Prior experience in a supervisory role is preferred.  Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are critical in motivating and leading the Administrative Team.  Preference will be given to those with previous co-operative experience. 

This position requires a University degree in Business Administration with an Accounting focus, a 2-year College Diploma with an accounting major with several years work experience.  Ideally the successful candidate will be working towards an Accounting Designation, or be willing to do so.  Proficiency in a variety of computer applications including MS Office, as well as working within strict confidentiality guidelines is required.   We are seeking an individual with exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and a team work approach.  Experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.  Prior CRS experience is preferred.
