The Co-operative Retailing System (CRS) is a unique, multi-billion dollar organization based on the fundamental principles of co-operation. It is comprised of a network of approximately 250 autonomous retail co-operatives across Western Canada along with their branch operations, and Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL). FCL is the wholesaling/manufacturing arm of the CRS, which provides the retail co-ops with a range of products and services. Ste. Anne Cooperative Oil Limited invites applications for the position of Gas and Convenience Store Manager.

Gas and Convenience Store Manager - Île-des-Chênes


The Gas and Convenience Store Manager is responsible for the daily operations and profitability of the establishment according to set goals and business objectives. Daily operations include staff scheduling, supervision and management, customer satisfaction, product quality assurance, store maintenance, and health and safety compliance. 

Job Duties


• Plan, direct and evaluate the operations of the convenience store/gas station
• Manage staff and assign duties
• Determine staffing requirements and hire or oversee hiring of staff
• Orientate each new hire on the basics of the facility and explain the training schedule
• Greet and assist customers in a way that models exemplary conduct to other staff
• Resolve customer complaints
• Make sure all customer complaints are addressed and handled professionally leaving the customer with a positive resolution
• Ensure that all health, safety and security regulations are adhered to and required standards are met
• Maintain adequate stock through efficient inventory management
• Increase sales, expand markets, and promote business to meet the goals within provided guidelines
• Ensure an adequate process is in place for checking deliveries and packaging slips
• Verify invoices against packaging slips and track all expenditures
• Ensure that all staff members that make orders have sufficient and up-to date guidelines available for ordering quantities that are based on sales forecasts
• Make sure shelves are always stocked and that items are well presented with correct pricing
• Understand and train employees on safe fuel handling
• Make sound business decisions for buying large quantities with volume based discounts
• Ensure that all staff are trained to handle cash and all other payment methods and provide customers with correct change
• Make sure all staff is trained for operating the cash register to ensure seamless customer service
• Make regular bank deposits
• Coordinate delivery services
• Supervise all staff in the establishment and coordinate work to ensure productive operations at all hours
• Other duties as required




• Demonstrated service orientation required
• Minimum 2 years work experience in a supervisory role
• Excellent time management and prioritizing skills required
• Demonstrated ability to train and motivate staff required
• Skills to monitor and assess staff performance required
• Basic office administration skills required
• Highly effective teamwork skills
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with individuals at all levels of the organization
• Strong customer service and troubleshooting skills
• Well-defined sense of diplomacy
• Excellent teamwork and team building skills
• Thorough understanding of applicable health and safety legislation
• Professional, responsive, and positive work attitude is essential


Working Conditions


• Some travel may be required
• Ability to attend and conduct presentations
• Manual skill required to use desktop computer and peripherals
• Able to work in various temperatures
• Able to work a flexible schedule, weekends and evenings may be required
• Overtime as required
